Andra pradesh is once again engulfed in the similar issues of dividing the state under the different circumstances .The vast undulating landscape of Telungana , the Telugu speaking part of the Nizamat of Hyderabad a princely state during the british raj has long been a scene of struggle .It saw a communist led peasent uprising against feudal land owners between 1946 and 1951. In 1948 a clash between secessionist and nationalist set the stage for Telunganas violent accession to the nascent indian union.Less than a decade later , lines blurred yet again when the demand for vishalandhra which ment the unification of all Telugu speaking regions ,resurfaced
Andra & Rayal seema were separated from Madras state in 1953 after potti sree ramula fasted to death in december 1952 $ forced the hand of then Prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru . Andra state was the first state that was formed purely on linguistic nationality . Later Andra merged with Telangana in1956 based on their lingustic $ national affiinity to form the present state of Andrapradesh , Hyderabad as the capital city . However this has resulted in two major agitation ; Jai Telangana in 1969 $ Jai Andra 1972 both for separate state .
The congress lines , atleast initially was to refer the issue , along with other demands for new states in various parts of the country to a second reorganisation commission . Though there was talk recentlly of setting up such a commission , there has been no formal announcement as yet .
